Bogna Jarzemska-Misztalska was born in 1979 in Częstochowa. She lives and works in Warsaw.
She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2003. Her diploma work was awarded the Professor Józef Szajna Statuette for innovation in art and was recognized as the best painting diploma of 2003.
She was a finalist of the International Biennale of Painting and Unique Textile in Gdynia (2011) as well as the 24th and 25th Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin.
The artist is the first Polish female painter invited to participate in a Polish–Saudi exhibition commemorating the tenth anniversary of Polish–Saudi diplomatic relations. Her works are part of the private collection of the Saudi Royal Family.
Her passion is enamel art—paintings covered with colored glazes and fired at high temperatures. The colors look completely different after being placed in the kiln compared to when they are taken out. Enamel creates an alchemical aura over the painting. She often combines enamel works with modern applied art solutions, such as custom furniture designs. In addition to enamel, she also creates oil paintings, wall paintings, artistic glass, and stained glass works.
She is the author of the Hero of the Polish Economy award, granted by the Polish Business Club for outstanding achievements in the economic arena.
The Artist About Herself
Individuality and a passion for creation are both my life and my profession.
Through painting, I seek to express my inner emotions and to emphasize everything that moves, inspires, and intrigues me in nature and in the richness of the world around me.
Art is an endless challenge for discovering myself.
In a world filled with chaos, painting gives me a sense of identity and relaxes me.
The heated enamel I take out of the kiln each time gives back the warmth I previously put into it. I would like this warmth to be passed on to the viewer, giving them a sense of peace, harmony, and beauty.
